Organizational design in the information-automation Era – Part.1

Organizational planning is based on the prerogatives of the community of practice, dedicated to the production of the event under study. It is a horizontal and decentralized data-driven structure, oriented towards business-level strategies based on differentiation.

The adoption of data driven strategies involves, for all those companies that decide to respond positively to change, a radical cultural change[Ronchi, 2109].

As stated by Ronchi[2019], this is a << collective path of learning the needs of stakeholders, paradigm change and search for new skills >>.

Management in the information-automation Era

It becomes, today, the prerogative for a manager to break down hierarchical barriers within the organization and promote decentralization, by delegating decision-making responsibility.

The problems of control, innovation and efficiency [Jones, 2007], introduced in the opening article, are resolved in the use of software tools available on the market. They, in fact, allow the monitoring of the activities of all the staff and the performance of the users in real time.

The main organizational asset for this case study consists of: a project manager, team managers, management-analysis software tools and fully digital gaming tables. The digital tables will provide a significant competitive advantage, as they will allow management to better know the profile of the customers in terms of preferences.

The Project Manager

The project manager (PM) represents the brain of each project and must have distinctive skills in the field of Social Web Analysis, Digital and Content Marketing.

The main task of the PM is to design new tournament formats, communication  and editorial plans attached to them. From this point of view the business management must give much attention in the selection of the distinguishing competences in possession of this figure.

In a context where the organizational design remains oriented to the production of live events of digital driven poker, it is advisable to match the figure of the PM to that of the CEO.

In the next two articles I will describe the other organizational functions, highlighting the main differences compared to the traditional use of the same professional figures.
