Applicability of the poker skills in live Texas Hold’em

Last week we closed the cycle concerning the identification of applicable poker skills, thanks to the analysis of the Information Influence – Ii. With the next new articles, we will address the topic of the influence of stack size in live Texas Hold’em poker. According to the writer, the size of the stack determines the empirical application of the poker skills identified in the analysis of the information acquired. As skillful as you may be, nothing will be possible if the stack provided is not sufficient to support the identified action.

Arnold Snyder

The study of literature led to the meeting of a controversial author, Arnold Snyder, at least in two respects: on the one hand because he was the only one to develop strategies based solely on the structure of the tournament, in view of the progressive increase in the level of blinds and, specifically for live tournaments; on the other hand, because he was the first to announce the ineffectiveness of statistical calculation in live tournaments and, in some cases, by proving some mathematical theories incorrectly applied to them, such as the mathematical bluff of Sklansky[2009], the concept of inverse value of the chips of Mason Malmuth and the widespread, as far as exceeded, “M Factor” of Dan Harrigton[2004] .

Emotional intelligence in live Texas Hold’em poker

In his study, Snyder[2011] focuses on the structure of the tournament, by virtue of the fact that each event is characterized by a very variable duration of blind levels, from faster, the so-called turbo or hyper turbo, to those less fast properly called slow. All players have always had an idea, more or less aware of the difference between participating in a fast event and a slow one, but no one before Snyder[2011] had ever worked out the strategies according to them. All the theories he presents are based on the communication paradigm and the tools it offers, summarized in the concept of “Emotional Intelligence” Snyder, like Sklansky, does not explicitly mention any of these disciplines, but reading his works you can’t help but notice them.
